Proof

A couple months ago we bought kitty beds for Abbie and Willow. They are soft and kind of fuzzy like his favorite blanket. We figured he'd take right to them especially since I put his at the top of the stairs where he always sleeps.

Did he take right to them?

Nope.

For a couple weeks I never saw him in it. Then one morning I noticed some kitty hair.

Aha!

Still never saw him in it until one night I got up the middle of the night and saw him passed out in his bed.

A few nights later I caught him again in the middle of the night. Apparently it's a "you don't really see this. You don't have proof" kind of thing.

Until the other day.

This is what I found in the afternoon.

Cute isn't he?

Ribbons and Tulle, and Tins Oh My!

This past weekend Brandi came over for the weekend so we could go to GASC and she also offered to help with wedding favors.

We got tons done!

The centerpiece is just a prototype. I've got it figured out (and have floral tape that's not white!) I just need to get more of the colored pebble things.

I'm in trouble now

I went to my first Stampin' Up! party tonight.

Hoo boy am I in trouble.

I love it all. I was inspired for the first time in ages.

I wanted to buy it all.

I did order a few things and I can't wait to really sit down and see what I can create.

Card making may be a new hobby.

The dress is in the house

Thursday I went to Becker's for my final fitting and to hopefully take the dress home. They got it out for me and I got to try it on again. The alterations were great and it just needed a touch more work up top.

They said that if I could hang out for a bit they'd try and get the final work done while I waited. No problems here. I had all day.

I did some shopping while waiting and picked up my earrings and garter. I'm now completely outfitted :)

About 30 or so minutes later they brought my dress back and asked me to try it on again. Like you need to ask twice. Got my dress back on and it's now perfect!

They pressed it again and put it in a garment bag for me and off I went.

It's now hanging in the closet waiting for the 23rd of August.

Altered lunchbox

Brandi made this for me and gave it to me last night at dinner. It's so darling and thoughtful I had to share it here and brag on her a bit. I will definitely be carrying it with me on my wedding day.

Thanks again Brandi!

Good friends and a glass of wine

or martini as the case may be.

Saturday I drove over to Novi, MI to meet up with some of my Scrapshare Sisters for dinner and dessert. It was worth every penny of the $4.19/gallon gas.

We met at Carraba's for dinner and had a great time chatting and eating. After dinner we stopped at Archiver's and did some shopping before heading to The Melting Pot for dessert.

We had some great dessert and an all around good time chatting. Brandi took these pictures so she's the only one missing in the shots.

Thanks again ladies for a great night!

Wedding Countdown: 2 months

Yikes! 2 months to go. Lots of things done, lots more to do.

It's been a pretty productive few weeks. Some of the things accomplished are:

- Cake flavors and basic design are picked
- Silk flowers are ordered (should be here Thursday)
- Linen tablecloths ordered and are sitting in my living room in a box
- Tuxes have been picked out and ordered. The Best Man just needs to go in and get fitted and order it.
- Hair appointments have been made for myself and the bridal party
- Postage has been purchased to start mailing invitations
- The menu has been decided
- Rehearsal dinner details (and menu) have been decided
- Everyone that needs a flight here has a flight
- All dresses have been ordered or have already arrived

My soon to be MIL and SIL are throwing me a shower in July. A wonderful surprise and something I wasn't expecting.

Adventures in the Backyard

We've let Abbie and Willow go out in the backyard now. It's too hard to try and keep them in when we're going in and out while grillng so we've decided to start letting them out.

They're only allowed out when we're in the kitchen or when we're outside. I couldn't resist snapping some pictures of them outside plus some other photos of neighborhood visitors :)

The other day this rabbit was about 2 feet away from Willow who was on the deck. They seemed to be having a staring contest.

I went in to grab my camera and when I came back the rabbit had moved further away. So far we've seen at least 3 rabbits at a time in the yard.

Hooray for Google

Once again Google has saved the day.

I've been looking for inexpensive, not disposable white tablecloths for the reception. Several searches proved that they were way too expensive. Tonight I dug deeper into Google and found a place that had a great deal on them.

I've been obsessing about tablecloths for a few weeks and am so glad that this is out of the way. I'll breath a big sigh of relief when they are delivered :)

Wedding stuff

I'm way late on the update to the countdown. Little over 2 months to go. Not much has been done this past month except for hiring a DJ, dress fitting, and Laura and Heidi booked their airline tickets :)

I was finally getting around to uploading pictures from the Kenny Chesney concert and came across this one. A little less blurry than the last.

Gotta love self portraits :)

Tigers game

Friday night we went to a Tiger's game. A friend of ours had a pair of extra tickets so we took them off her hands.

It was fun going again so soon since we had just gone a couple weeks before for my birthday.

They lost.

I'm starting to think that we're jinxing them. Normally we don't go to a game this early in the season.

Some photos from the game:

Just to give you an idea how far up we were in Section 336, Row 16.

One of the highlights was the Tiger's coach got kicked out

A bit blurry but here we are

A whole bunch of updates

It's been a busy, but fun, week. Lots of things going on and lots to update.

I don't have all the pictures uploaded yet so I'll probably post things out of order.

Today we did some shopping and picked up some deck/patio furniture.

Also discovered that one of the bushes near the fence to the backyard is a lilac bush that is starting to bloom:

Playoffs

I live in a hockey house.

If you didn't know the Detroit Red Wings are in the Stanley Cup playoffs right now. As I'm typing this up they're in the middle of the 3rd period against the Dallas Stars in Game 6.

One of the traditons I'm told is playoff beards. Jim and Chris have shaved but Zach is growing his playoff beard. Don't tell him but it reminds me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo :)

Tonight at dinner Jim realized that the reason Detroit lost the last 2 games is because he hadn't been drinking a Sam Adams Honey Porter beer during the game - 1 beer a period to be exact.

Tonight he's got his beer and so far it appears to be working. 4-1 in Detroit's favor.

Does your household have any crazy hockey traditions?

Birthday girl

Happy Birthday to me.

Today is a big one.

30.

I can remember when I was a little girl and 30 seemed so old. Now that it's here it's not really a big deal.

My birthday celebration started last weekend when I was surprised by Jim and the boys by being taken to Panera for breakfast and then to Detroit for a Tigers game.

We had a great time at the game even though they lost.

Today I took the day off work for my birthday. My day started by dropping Jim off at work then back home to get showered and ready to go to my first dress fitting.

Dress fitting went really well and I pick up my dress in July.

I grabbed lunch at McDonalds (free chicken sandwich with drink purchase today) and had a sweet tea and chicken sandwich then headed to the bank and then to get a pedicure. Picked Jim up at work and stopped in to see some of my old co-workers.

He took me to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse and we split some cheesecake for dessert. Yummy.

After dinner we went to Costco to get a memory card for my brand new Canon Rebel digital camera - my birthday present from Jim!

Made a quick stop at his mom and dad's to drop off his dad's birthday present - we share the same birthday - then home.

So far this turning 30 thing isn't so bad :)
