Johari Window

I got this from Veronica's blog. Please visit the link below and pick out words that you think describe me.

Some background info:

The Johari Window was invented by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in the 1950s as a model for mapping personality awareness. By describing yourself from a fixed list of adjectives, then asking your friends and colleagues to describe you from the same list, a grid of overlap and difference can be built up.

Kenny tickets are in my hand!

As mentioned many posts ago I got Kenny Chesney tickets before they went on sale, because I got them through work. I got them in my hot little hands today!

I am for sure going to the 1st show, Friday June 2. WooHoo!

New eyes!

I had an eye appointment today to get my eyes checked and to get new contacts and glasses, I was overdue by several years!

I have vision insurance through work that covers glasses or contacts each year so I took advantage of it. I'm happy to report my eyes are no better or worse than last time. My right eye is actually a bit better so she adjusted my prescription for that so they are more balanced because my left eye has been doing most of the work to compensate. I have a trial pair of new contacts to wear and I have a follow up appointment next week to make sure they fit alright and I don't have any problems. I am sticking with Acuvue 2 but now I have the new hydraclear which helps them "breathe". So far so good.

I also ordered new glasses. I am really pleased with them and think they will look good. It's always a little scary going alone and hoping you made the right choice with frames. I did have a helpful person though that I felt comfortable with when trying on different lenses. Here's a link to my new glasses:

What temperment are you?

I'm kind of feeling uninspired for posting right now so I thought I'd toss this out too.
Take it and see what you are. I think this one fits me well.

You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament

Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace.
You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions.
You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected.

It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional.
You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others.
While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything.
You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams.
You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment.

What Muppet are you?

CASE'd from Veronica

You Are Scooter

Brainy and knowledgable, you are the perfect sidekick.
You're always willing to lend a helping hand.
In any big event or party, you're the one who keeps things going.

Cavemen Preferred Blondes

Cavemen Preferred Blondes
Research May Explain Why Light Hair Color Is So Common in Northern, Eastern Europe
By JONATHAN SILVERSTEIN, ABCNews.com
Corbis
A new study says cavemen were pulled in by the golden locks, thus populating Europe with blond and blue-eyed children.
(March 3) -- Back in the ice age, Northern European cavemen got all the chicks.

Thanks to a food shortage and a man shortage about 10,000 years ago, men were in such
demand they had their pick of mates.

With so much competition among women to find a mate, nature and evolution kicked in to give
some cave women a distinctive look to attract the opposite sex: blond hair and blue eyes.

So says a new study published in the British science journal Evolution and Human Behavior.

Are Blondes Mutants?

The study's author, Canadian anthropologist Peter Frost, concludes that although blond hair
and blue eyes started as a genetic mutation, men were pulled in by the golden locks and
baby blues, thus populating the area with blond and blue-eyed children.

While the rest of the world has predominantly brown hair and brown eyes, Northern Europeans
have the greatest variety of hair and eye color found anywhere, and Frost believes it
resulted from the sexual appeal of these traits.

"When an individual is faced with potential mates of equal value, it will tend to select
the one that 'stands out from the crowd,'" the study said.

Still, the study admits it's unclear why the mutation happened in Europe and not elsewhere.

The theory is backed by several other studies, including one conducted in Japan that found
that the gene responsible for blond hair appeared for the first time about 11,000 years
ago.
The Grass Is Always Greener

Though a caveman bachelor may have had no problem finding a date for Saturday night, his
existence was far from ideal.

According to the study, men of the time were forced to go on long hunting expeditions over
vast areas to find their prey.

With no means to preserve food for the journey, an unforgiving ecosystem and the risks
presented by the hunt itself, some men never made it back.

The ones who did were highly sought after.

To add to the difficulties, women weren't really equipped to gather food and the arctic
environment didn't allow for opportunities close to home. Frost argues that if a woman
wanted to eat, she needed a man.

Women had to attract men to survive.

Frost concluded that Mother Nature answered the call by introducing hair and eye colors —
like the more than seven distinct colors found in Northern and eastern Europe today.

If he is correct, it appears that even 10,000 years ago, blondes had more fun.

Manic Monday

I'm not a morning person, or a Monday morning person at that. I knew going in today that we would be short 3 people in our little Level 2 group which would have left 3 of us today, well one called in so it's just myself and one other person. And I am working till 8 tonight since the one that called in normally covers till the end of the night, which is ok, the extra OT will be good. The two of us have divided up the day and will see what we can do. It's 11:30 and so far so good.

I don't have much to blog about right now, just felt compelled to post. There isn't even anything really good in the lunchroom today for lunch ...

Macaroni & Cheese $2.50
Herb Roasted Game Hen $2.75
Broccoli
Carrots
Baked Potato
Spicy Black Bean Chili
Hearty Vegetable Beef Soup
Patty Melt $2.85

I may have someone get me something at Wendy's when they go out :)

Happy Monday!

Shopping-filled weekend

So this weekend has been a pretty good one as weekends go, would have been nicer if it was 85 degrees and sunny out, but I did wake up to the sun this morning so it's a start, I'm sure it's 85 degrees somewhere :)

Saturday I got up early and went to Dawnn's house to help get organized for the PJ Crop she was having that night, she had gotten chairs that morning and snacks and sodas and then she and I were going to get chairs and last minute items, like the ingredients to make Midori Sours :)

We got loaded up on chairs and goodies and went back to her place to get everything straightened up, organized and set up. Good thing we did because we didn't have an extra moment because everyone started showing up. It was alot of fun last night, I didn't get much cropping done only a couple pages but I did get some things organized and I just had fun hanging out which was great, I needed it! To read more about the crop last night, check out Dawnn's blog here: PJ Crop

Today (Sunday)I went shopping with my friend Jean. We had an agenda to get pants and shoes. Normally I don't do well clothes shopping and usually end up buying a purse to make myself feel better ... today I did well. We hit Lane Bryant first, found out it is Real Woman Dollars going on starting Wednesday, plus she had 2 cards for $25 off $50 or more. I got 2 pairs of much-needed pants (black and gray) and a cute new shirt to wear with new much-needed pants and a cute cute cute black shirt to wear when I actually go out. I was going to only try it on but told her if I do and it's cute then it means we have to go out some night to a bar or something! It's black see-through with button down and cute scallop around the neck and then has a black cami underneath. I went for it. Plus we have 40% off cards and Real Women Dollars so we are planning to go back next week and get some other things since they will be on sale then plus the coupons and dollars we have so we should do well next week!
We went in search of shoes, I struck out there nothing in my size but she got lucky. We have plans this week to go shoe shopping for me. I need some heels to go with my new pants since they are kind of long and a heel would take care of that.

That was really my weekend in a snapshot. Not a bad one at all.

Fast Cars and Freedom

As I mentioned in a previous post and Heidi has mentioned too about how we love kickin' song intro's. Well she and I have been talking off and on about this Rascal Flatt's song, Fast Cars and Freedom. For some reason I like the song and I haven't been able to really give a reason to her why as she is not a big fan of the group. Well I heard it on the way home tonight and besides liking the kickin' intro I just like the beat through the whole song. I still can't really put my finger on what about the song gets me, I was telling Heidi I like one line where he's singing "I'm on that gravel road, Look at me" and it just gets stuck in my head.

I guess I'm crazy :)Wait, I know I am crazy, I guess crazier *lol*

Beauty Ups

So after a dear twin outed me that I haven't blogged much and I most likely have several drafts not yet published I will admit she is correct :D I just haven't had alot of time lately to get on here and post. I've been really busy with work as previously mentioned. I am working on a huge project, I'm on the implementation team and when this is all approved and all the funding, etc comes through this will be something that is implemented global within the organization I work. This is great news and I think it will look well on my resume but for right now I am just swamped in work, conference calls, meetings and deadlines. But I thrive on the chaos of it all though and I have some good people on the team with me. Right now we are trying to get everything together for the demo that is being presented next week at the mother ship. I'm not going to the mother ship for the demo but it's alright because I have 3 or 4 other deadlines to meet by the following Tuesday so I will be plenty busy!

I was going to stay late at work and get some other work done on some of my lower priority projects but I really wanted to get my hair done and didn't want to have to wait till Saturday but figured I wouldn't get in tonight but decided to call. My lady I go to is on maternity leave, she just had her 2nd daughter a month ago, but the lady that is taking over while she is out was there and had an opening as long as I could get there right away. Say no more, I was off and running! I got highlights in my hair, a new cut with lots of long layers and the ability to make a flip (big change for me) and I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time! I've been thinking about it for awhile but I've been chicken to have it done because I didn't know how it'd look or how much it'd hurt! My stylist laughed and said "honey we'll fix ya right up, you're going to look so good no man will resist you!" Actually the whole eyebrow waxing process was not bad, I did hold tightly onto the chair arms but it didn't hurt anything like I thought it would and she did a wonderful job! I'm very pleased.

My reasoning for titling this post 'Beauty Ups' is because I feel that's what I've been doing this week, and this is what I used to call it when I was a little girl :) I would play 'beauty ups' at my grandparents house with my grandma. I remember distinctly one time I was wearing pearls, clip on earrings, and bright red lipstick and my grandpa was going to take grandma and I to the store and I refused to take off my beauty ups so I went with them just as I was, I just remember having bright red lips and getting a package of gummy bears from grandpa as a treat :)

This week I got my nails done, I got my hair done tonight, eyebrows done, I went to tan a few times this week (helps beat winter blah's) and I have this lip gloss Dawnn and I bought a few weeks ago along with a lip plumping gloss. It's kinda neat to treat yourself. I also booked my first time at a spa for the end of March with a few girls from work! I'm getting my first ever massage, a pedicure and I'm having my hair washed and deep conditioned and styled. I'm so excited. The last week and next month will be lots of 'firsts' for me in that respect :)

What age do you act?

I was talking with Heidi about this the other day about how recently I felt I was acting more of my age ... not that there is anything wrong with acting older/younger but lately I had been feeling like I was not really being a late 20s woman ya know? I felt really good when I was able to put work aside and other issues in my life aside last week when I went up to the casino with friends and then this week staying until late late, did I say late? hours of the night chatting with some wonderfully crazy co workers :D

This is close, I will be 28 in a few months. I'm glad it didn't say like 95 or something *lol*

Midori Sours

I think I've found a new calling in giving my reviews on drinks :D

I went up north in the FREEZING below zero weather (did I say it was cold out?) to the casino after work with some co-workers/friends. If I had hit it big I wouldn't be posting on my blog right now, I'd be on an island in the Caribbean. While there I had a few drinks at the bar with one of the girls and I ordered a Midori Sour and got her hooked on them too.

I have had them before, you can get them frozen or on the rocks, these that we had were on the rocks. They are so yummy if you haven't had one, I recommend trying it ... just remember not to drink and drive!

They have:
Midor Melon Liqueur
Whisky Sour Mix
Sprite or 7 Up soda
Maraschino cherries (I prefer to put some in the bottom of the glass and then add ice and the drink and then put a few cherries on a stick and put it on top of the drink.)
Add in all ingredients and give it a quick stir and pour over ice. Otherwise if blending, add all but cherries in the blender and mix.

Very yummy!
